The Nikkei in Japan was up 0.5%, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong fell 0.7%. The Shanghai Composite in China was up slightly, rising 0.2%. In Australia, the ASX 200 was down 0.3%.

Crude oil prices were slightly down on Tuesday, with Brent crude falling 0.1% to $83.25 per barrel and WTI crude down 0.2% to $80.72 per barrel. Gold prices were also slightly down, with the precious metal falling 0.3% to $1,765 per ounce.

Meanwhile, the US dollar index was up 0.1% on Tuesday, with the index measuring the strength of the greenback against a basket of other major currencies.

Investors are closely watching the release of US economic data later in the week, including the latest inflation figures, which could have an impact on central bank policies and market sentiment. The Federal Reserve’s policy meeting is also set to take place this week, with investors waiting to see if there will be any changes to interest rates or bond purchases.

Overall, Asian markets appear to be treading cautiously as investors await further economic data and policy announcements from the US.
