Updates out of the Middle East over the weekend, or further military action from both the US and Iran, could see some gapping again on the Asian open and add more volatility as the day progresses. Later in the day, we hear opening remarks from ECB President Christine Lagarde when she kicks off proceedings in Sintra.

It is another relatively quiet day on the macroeconomic calendar on Tuesday. The London session sees the release of German preliminary CPI data, while we have the first of some key US data in the New York session, with the CB Consumer Confidence data and the JOLTS Job Openings numbers out early in the session, along with the key Canadian GDP figures.

The Asian session is again quiet on Wednesday, but the calendar livens up as we move through the day. The European session sees the release of EU CPI numbers, but the major focus will be on the ECB Forum in Sintra, where we hear from several central bank big hitters, including the ECB’s Christine Lagarde, the Bank of Canada’s Tiff Macklem, the Bank of England’s Andrew Bailey, and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. The US day sees more data released, with the ADP Non-Farms numbers out as well as ISM Manufacturing PMI data.

It is Non-Farms Thursday this week due to the big US holiday on Friday, and that data will be the major focus for the markets. Swiss CPI data is also out during the London session, but expect the big US employment numbers to dominate sentiment in the final trading session.

It could be a relatively quiet day to finish the week, with US markets closed for the Independence Day holiday and nothing of note on the data front. We do hear from the ECB’s Christine Lagarde again and the Bank of England’s Andrew Bailey, which could see some moves in their respective markets in the latter sessions.

[215
