The Dow surged, while the Nasdaq dipped as investors shifted away from tech stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng Index climbed 1.8%, and mainland China\u2019s CSI 300 rose 2.13%. In contrast, Japan\u2019s markets declined, with the Nikkei 225 falling 1.93% and the Topix dipping 1.27%. Japan\u2019s 40-year government bond yield hit 2.766%, its highest level since 2007, according to LSEG data. South Korea\u2019s Kospi gained 0.34%, and the small-cap Kosdaq added 1.41%. Australia\u2019s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 ended 0.48% higher at 8,231, snapping a three-day losing streak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s rupee remains under watch after hitting a record low against the U.S. dollar. India\u2019s inflation for December declined for a second consecutive month, falling to 5.22% year-on-year, slightly below expectations and strengthening the case for potential interest rate cuts. Thailand is set to release its consumer confidence index for December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overnight in the U.S., the Dow Jones Industrial Average outperformed, rising 358.67 points (0.86%) to close at 42,297.12 as investors moved to nontech sectors like Caterpillar, JPMorgan, and UnitedHealth.
