The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed 1.17% lower at 17,331.22, showing a modest recovery from a more substantial early-session drop of over 3%. Meanwhile, in Australia, the S&amp;P\/ASX 200 declined by 0.77%, closing at 6,943.4. This downturn was a response to the central bank&#8217;s decision to maintain interest rates at 4.10%, as had been widely expected according to a Reuters poll.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Japan, the Nikkei 225 also experienced a decline, dropping by 2.1% to close at 31,237.94.
